NAICOM partners with FRSC to enforce compliance with Third Party Motor Insurance.

In

a concerted effort to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with compulsory motor vehicle third-party insurance, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have strengthened their collaboration. This partnership aims to promote a safer and more secure environment for all road users in Nigeria.

During a recent meeting at the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja, NAICOM’s Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, emphasized the importance of third-party motor insurance, highlighting its financial and non-financial benefits. Financially, victims of accidents caused by insured vehicles are entitled to compensation of up to N3 million, while in the event of death, the compensation is unlimited, depending on the value of the deceased individual. Non-financial benefits include financial safety, peace of mind, and confidence in compliance with government regulations.

The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to enforcing compliance with third-party insurance, stating that it is a primary responsibility of the FRSC and part of the National Road Traffic Regulation, which makes it compulsory for every vehicle owner to have. He assured that FRSC operatives would intensify efforts to ensure motorists comply with this requirement, which is central to road safety as provided in the law.

This enhanced collaboration between NAICOM and the FRSC underscores a shared commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and security of all road users in Nigeria.
